Australia was hit with one of the worst bushfires since July 2019 and the bushfires that killed over a billion animals in New South Wales have finally stopped!

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service tweeted that after more than 240 days, there are finally no active bushfires in the Australian state!

Deputy commissioner of the fire service Rob Rogers previously said in February 13 that the fires burning had been contained after the “truly devastating fire season for both firefighters and residents, who've suffered through so much this season."

The Rural Fire Service is a volunteer-based firefighting agency who played a crucial role in putting out the bushfires for the past few months and described the fire season as "very traumatic, exhausting and anxious."

Millions upon millions of hectares have been ruined in the bushfires that started in July 2019 that claimed at least 33 lives and the home and lives of over a billion animals.

Fortunately came the rain fall that helped put out the bushfires, but the downpours also caused major flooding, damaging winds and dangerous waves which led to the evacuation of several towns.

Senior forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, Neale Fraser said that more rainfall is on the way throughout the continent and that “the western half of the state, especially, is going to see some really good rainfall figures.”

The fire service will now be focusing on “helping people reboot” seeing how the Australian state is free from the bushfire crisis.

We hope Australia will be able to restore fully and we wish that they will never have to go through another fire season that’s as bad as the one that just ended.

Stay safe, Australia!
