It’s not easy staying at home and while most people understand that it’s a necessary step to curb the spread of COVID-19, some people in the U.S. are protesting against the nation’s quarantine order, and ironically, one of these protest's leader was recently tested positive for the virus.

A leader of an anti-lockdown group named Audrey Whitelock was responsible for many protests that were carried out in North Carolina because she believes that the quarantine order violates her civil rights… But she’s now been diagnosed with the virus.

Audrey thinks that the “forced” self-quarantine violated her First Amendment rights and that the “reality is that modern society has not been able to eradicate contagious viruses” and that a “typical public health quarantine would occur in a medical facility.”

She revealed that she was diagnosed with COVID-19 and that she’s an “asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patient” and the fact that she’s told not to participate in public or private accommodations by the government denied her 1st amendment right of freedom of religion.

She also said that she could be arrested for denying the quarantine order and violating the Americans with Disabilities Act, if she goes out.

Being the administrator of the Facebook page called ReOpen NC with over 70,000 members, Audrey and two other mothers have lead the charge of two protests with over 100 people for the first and over 300 for the second.

Many of the protestors includes Americans who are feeling frustrated and want to get back to work and these includes people who call COVID-19 the “scam-demic” and promotes conspiracy theories like how the virus is caused by 5G wireless.

People in North Carolina are currently under a stay-at-home order that was extended till May 8 and Audrey is unable to take part in the protest because she was “forced” to quarantine at home.

The virus has killed almost 55,000 people in the U.S. so far and North Carolina was recently reported to have recorded the largest day-to-day increase in cases with 571 new COVID-19 cases.

The irony.
