29 May 2017, 07:00 PM

Durian may be dubbed the king of fruits, but, ask any durian lover, and they’ll tell you know that Musang King is the only king of all durians!

Despite its price, true lovers of durian are willing to fork out the cash for one, and cunning sellers are always ever ready to deceive unsuspecting customers by claiming a regular durian as Musang King, and then charging the high price it commands.

But, there’s a solution to that! Here are a few tips on how to identify the Musang King durian!

  1. The shape of the husk

  1. The colour of the husk

Musang King’s colour is slightly different than that of regular durians. It has a dusty, greyish colour to it. Some even have yellowish-brown husks. The thorns also have a different colour across the tip and the base.

  1. The flesh

The flesh is the most important part! Musang King has a thick, golden-yellow flesh that is sweet with a hint of bitterness. It has a custard-like texture and is really creamy.
