If you’ve been on social media lately, you’d definitely have seen cooking videos from a Malaysian couple’s YouTube channel named “Sugu Pavithra”.
When S. Pavithra and her husband M. Sugu first started their YouTube channel, little did they know that their videos would reach hundreds of thousands of people and that they would become overnight sensations.

Now, their efforts have not only been recognized by netizens and the YouTube community, it has also been recognized by our very own Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin!
In a new video, Pavithra shared her excitement of being showered with gifts from the Prime Minister himself and thanked him profusely.
“We are just ordinary people, we never thought we’d receive presents from the Prime Minister. Thank you,” Pavithra said. ‘’
The couple, who won the hearts of many Malaysians with their simplicity and warmth, shared the abundance of gifts they received which included a note from the Prime Minister that said:
“With compliments from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Keep up the good work. Just stay at home.”

The Prime Minister’s special delivery included a tripod, a microwave oven, electric rice cooker and various cooking products.
Speaking to Bernama in a telephone interview Pavithra said, “When the gifts were delivered to my house, I could not believe it because I felt like who am I to receive them (until) you called to ask whether I had received the presents or not.”
According to Pavithra, she and her husband who hail from Buntong, Ipoh, have used the tripod for video interviews, especially during live telecasts, but they’ve not used it to film their cooking activities just yet.
“I’m still comfortable using the mugs (to place her handphone on to record her cooking activities)”, Pavithra said. “Besides, the kitchen is quite small. But we definitely used the tripod for other purposes and it was really helpful. Thank you, Mr Prime Minister.”
Pavithra also added that the gifts, as well as the rising number of YouTube subscribers, are keeping her motivated to continue with her cooking videos.
Thanks to the couple’s new-found fame, the housewife and mother-of-two admitted that she has been “quite busy” with entertaining at least 20 calls per day, either for interviews or from those who want to help out by delivering products to her home.

“Sugu Pavithra’s” YouTube channel has definitely been keeping those staying at home entertained and many have been trying out their recipes in their own homes.
This humble couple really deserves all the recognition they’ve been getting as well as the Prime Minister’s special delivery.
