As more and more sectors open up under the RMCO, we’ve had to change a lot and adapt to the new normal and constantly practice social distancing.

Weddings are no different.

Weddings were recently allowed again and though huge crowds are not allowed, couples have been taking different measures to ensure that they have a safe and happy day.

One couple from Johor decided to have a drive-thru wedding that ensured social distancing measures were followed.

Norazura Mohd Ali and new husband Agus Santoso Sidik, set social media abuzz with their “one-minute drive-thru” ceremony that not only celebrated their wedding but also ensured that guests were safe.

Speaking to Malay Mail, photographer Farreed Sahar - a close friend of the couple, said that he suggested the drive-thru concept that would allow guests to see the couple for a minute at a time.

“I had proposed this drive-thru wedding concept to other couples but only Norazura and Agus were brave enough to accept and carry on with this creatively-themed idea,” he said.

“Others were wary as they didn't want to take the risk to celebrate their weddings in a drive-thru style as it’s definitely not the norm,” he continued.

The bride informed her guests about the drive-thru via her wedding invitation cards which gave them a better understanding on how to attend this wedding.

“My guests were all excited to witness the wedding and were also thrilled to attend the ceremony because of its unique concept,” Norazura said.

“On top of that, some came all the way from other states such as Selangor and even Perak although they knew that they could only see us for a minute,” she continued.

“Because my husband and I own a burger stall and have a steady flow of loyal customers, we also wanted to have a wedding ceremony with them witnessing it as well,” she added.

Prior to having their unique drive-thru wedding, the couple had obtained the necessary permit to host the ceremony that was held from 12pm to 5pm.

Norazura and Agus’ wedding came with their own set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for their guests.

Besides staying in their cars, wedding guests would have to get their temperatures checked while having their names and numbers recorded.

Presents and tokens were handed in to a small box that was provided.

“Visitors would then say their well-wishes to the couple in the car while food packets would also be handed to them at the same time.”
