We all have a phone – or at least know someone that owns one – that looks like this. But with this new invention we probably wouldn’t have to keep replacing our screens anymore.
Philip Frenzel, a student at Aalen University in Germany, has designed a genius phone case that can deploy an airbag as soon as you drop it. Philip got the idea after he dropped his brand new iPhone and the screen cracked.
He initially thought of using an actual foam bag but the design was impractical. He then decided to go with something firm instead of soft and found an effective alternative in spring. The case easily attaches to the back of the phone and will deploy when the phone is dropped.
The gadget hasn’t gone on sale yet but it’s already getting great reviews, it even earned Frenzel the top award from the German Society for Mechatronics.
