Nothing is safe anymore. WhatsApp will soon be featuring advertisements too!

WhatsApp has always been resistant to advertising, unlike other Facebook companies. Against the founders' wishes, Facebook is set to squeeze in ads on to the messaging app.

Where, you ask? Right in the Status feature - that's the part where you can upload your status 'stories', reports The Economic Times.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, VP Chris Daniels said, "We are going to be putting ads in Status. That is going to be [the] primary monetisation mode for the company as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp."

The VP did not mention a specific time frame of when the ads will start.

The messaging app has always struggled to come up with ways to show ads. Without a proper feed like Instagram and Facebook has, WhatsApp lacked a place for the ads to be featured.

The company posted a blog post back in 2016 when it dropped its subscription fee and made it clear that ads would never "interrupt your communication." This added to the issue about how advertising could be shown in the app.

Evidently, WhatsApp has solved that problem. Similar to Instagram stories, the ads will appear between updates from friends.

Get ready everyone.
