#EarthDay is such an important reminder for us to take care of this planet we call home. Over the past few decades or so, the Earth is undergoing drastic changes that could jeopardize the way we live in the years to come. WE need to be wary about the kind of place we will leave for our future generations, and it starts with each and every one of us! But did you know that these 7 simple things you’re already doing is actually helping?

1. Ditching disposable bottled water for a tumbler.

It’s important to stay hydrated, but those disposable plastic water bottles are no good for our animal friends and the environment. When you switched to a refillable water bottle you can carry with you. It’s healthy, green, and economical. So much win!

2. Dimming your phone screen

these 7 simple things you’ve been doing actually help to save our planet!Computer and tablets are energy eaters, their bright screens are a reason why. When you decrease their brightness, and turn them off when you’re not using them, it really cuts down on the amount of energy these gadgets use! Simple, but super effective!

3. Refuse to use straws

these 7 simple things you’ve been doing actually help to save our planet!Straws are so light that they end up in the oceans and ecosystem instead of the trash. Remember the viral video where a straw had to be pulled out from a turtle’s nose? So, everytime you don’t use a straw, that’s one less straw in a turtle’s nose. So easy!

4. Cancelling paper bank statements and bills

these 7 simple things you’ve been doing actually help to save our planet!Let’s just admit the fact that no one checks their physical mailboxes anymore. Everyone has things just emailed to them online. Even banks now have the option of sending your e-statement to your email, which we think is great. So, when you cancelled all those physical bills being sent to your mailbox that you never check, you were actually helping!

5. Using reusable grocery bags

these 7 simple things you’ve been doing actually help to save our planet! It’s great that the government is implementing the ’20 Sen Plastic Bag’ and ‘No Plastic Bag Saturdays’ in many leading supermarkets and shops. Can you believe that some people still end up paying just to get plastic bags, because they forgot to bring the reusable bag? If only they knew that keeping some in their car boot or just leaving it by the front door means they can save that 20 cents.

6. Using less, reusing more!

Everytime you choose to buy reusable items instead of disposable ones, repair broken things instead of buying new, donate your unwanted clothing, toys and other items to charity instead of tossing them into the trash, you actually reduce waste cause you’re not creating more. Brilliant!

7. Saving water

Did you know that only 1% of the Earth’s water is suitable to drink? When you turn off the tap while you’re brushing your teeth, or take a quick shower when you’re super late for class/work, you’re already doing your part to conserve that 1% of safe drinking water! Especially repairing those leaks that majorly affect your water bills. Those are the real culprits!
